BH and DT · SSEN area
Solar, battery storage and EV charging across Dorset — MCS-certified, locally based, with your grid connection handled for you.
Quick answer
Dorset sits in the SSEN distribution area and enjoys high south-coast sun-hours. The Bournemouth–Poole conurbation has a large owner-occupier market well suited to solar and battery storage, with typical 4–6kW systems costing £5,000–£9,000.
Dorset combines a large, solar-suited housing market around the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch conurbation with some of the highest sun-hours on the South Coast. From retiree bungalows to Sandbanks waterfront homes, it is excellent solar territory.
Dorset properties connect through SSEN, and we manage the G98/G99 grid application as standard. We serve the eastern Dorset coast as a natural extension of our Hampshire heartland.

Grants & export income
Be realistic on grants: most Dorset homeowners won't qualify for capital grants, so the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) is the main ongoing earner. SEG is Ofgem-mandated — every large supplier must pay you for the surplus you export, and as of 2026 leading tariffs pay roughly 15p–27p per kWh (each supplier sets and can change its own rate, and you can hold your export tariff with a different supplier than your import one; it needs an MCS-certified install and a smart export meter, both of which we sort). Means-tested help such as ECO4 and the Warm Homes scheme, plus any Solar Together Dorset group-buy rounds when they run, can help lower-income or specific-EPC households — but eligibility is narrow, so treat SEG plus the county's high sun-hours as the dependable return and check any grant scheme against its current criteria before assuming you qualify.
