Hypervolt is the design-led option. It is a compact, good-looking British-made unit with a clean app, customisable LED lighting and strong everyday usability. It supports solar matching and works well with smart tariffs, sitting somewhere between the Zappi and Ohme on both fronts while looking the part on a front wall. For homeowners who want a charger that does everything competently and looks discreet on the front of a period property, which matters in conservation areas around Chichester, Winchester and Brighton, the Hypervolt is a popular pick.

So which should you choose? If you have solar panels, or you are seriously considering them, the Zappi's surplus diversion usually makes it the most cost-effective over time, and it is the unit we fit most often alongside our solar installations. If you have no solar plans and just want to slash your charging cost on an overnight tariff, Ohme's tariff intelligence is hard to beat. If aesthetics and a polished app matter most and you want a solid all-rounder, the Hypervolt earns its place. There is no single best charger, only the best charger for your home.

The unit price differences between them are modest.
